drawer explosion The goal of an assembly instruction is to provide the end customer of a product with a manual on how to assemble and maintain the purchased article.

A graphical illustration is created that describes, in a chronological order, the steps needed to assemble a product.

The 2 illustrations below are an example of such a sequence. Usually one picture is created that shows the general area where the required step takes place (picture 1) which is followed by a detailed illustration of the necessary step (picture 2).

general position of assembly step step detail: tighten 4 screws

To create assembly instructions we work with a database of, at the moment, 200 custom parts. These parts and models are placed in the 3D model of the product and positioned in such a way until the final assembly instruction is complete.

The illustrations above are simple screenshots made in the CAD software. On demand rendered pictures could be created.

As far as possible every step is shown and described with such a picture. Goal is to avoid any text in order to make the assembly instruction language independent.

The assembly instruction can be saved as:

  • pdf File,
  • on a internet website,
  • as video (avi, mpeg, etc. ),
  • and obviously as printed paper.

The configurations can be edited or enhanced to account for product changes or updates.
