3D rendering

The illustration to the left is an example of a 3D rendering.

The complete scene was created in SolidWorks.

The table has been defined with materials and textures.



The coffee cup with logo and writing has also been generated in SolidWorks. It is worth mentioning that the Logo was not engraved into the cup, it is a image that is placed onto the volume object. The decal recognises the surface on which it will be placed on, and wraps itself around accordingly.

A similar approach was chosen for the A3 page of the technical drawing.

Purpose of a 3D rendering is to create a optical impression of a product that is otherwise only available as virtual model. Such an illustration can help give a customer an impression of the product. An example could be the development of a new entrance door. In a similar method used for the logo on the coffee cup a door can be placed in a digital picture of a building façade.

Giving a customer the opportunity of seeing the possible outcome and making the decision to buy very much easier.
